Competitive Level

Learn to Play!

Competitive Level Classes

Competitive 1 (Ages 11-13)
High intensity practice, tactical decision-making, and practice play.

Competitive 2 (Ages 13-15)
Emphasis on developing personal playing style; athlete goals should include HS tennis.

Competitive 3 (Ages 16-18)
Emphasis on developing weapons; athlete goals should include varsity HS tennis Class

The focus at the competitive level is on ball control, building offensive weapons, and playing against different styles effectively. Participation in sanctioned competition is encouraged as it becomes an integral part in developing skills.

Continued emphasis on using proper technique remains a high priority. Additional emphasis on developing a personal playing style, patterns of play, making good strategic and tactical decisions, playing defensively, playing effective doubles, and the introduction of mental skills training round out a robust curriculum. Athletes should have goals related to playing high school varsity tennis and perhaps beyond.
