Nesar Nayak, Director of Tennis and Junior FiRE High Performance Program

Nesar became Grand Slam's Director of Tennis beginning April 24, 2017. He is also the Junior FiRE High Performance Program director, having previously served as Junior FiRE Coordinator. Nesar has been with Grand Slam Tennis Club since 2013. He is a seasoned leader and has been instrumental in developing and growing Grand Slam’s junior FiRE program. His teaching style focuses on a unique balance of cognitive understanding of the game and stroke technique, making each player and student play at their highest ability level.

Nesar embodies the traditional set of weapons of a player from India, great touch and feel, crafty, and intelligent.  His teaching also displays these traits and he isn’t worried about taking on big hitters.

Education: Majored in Psychology and Bio Medical Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago
Credentials: CPR/First Aid Certification, USTA Background check

Playing Background/Highlights:
Juniors:  Trained at Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy at age 13.  Competed in India and the US at section, national and ITF levels

Teaching Style: Based on mental psyche and understanding the sport with thoroughness in teaching stroke technique based on correct bio-mechanics.

Coaching Experience: Coached Nika Kukharchuk (WTA rank #456) and worked with Erik Chvojka (ATP rank 204) and Jamie Loeb currently playing at UNC Chapel Hill.

Person having the greatest impact on your tennis: My Uncles. They introduced me to the sport of tennis also while getting me my first racquet.  As a young junior, they helped me train in the US.
Person having the greatest influence on your teaching: Jay Devashetty as he inspired me with his thoroughness and his meticulous approach to our profession.
Favorite male player: Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras
